This was my first book and unsurprisingly I had to self-publish. It coincided with 100 years at St.Andrew's and I naturally wanted endorsement from the club. I met with the then Commercial Director, Perry Deakin in February 2005 to present my proposal which would effectively cost the club nothing other than giving me permission to use the logo etc. Deakin replied "Unfortunately I cannot grant licence for you to use Club logo's,badge or marks in the presentation of the publication. This will conflict with Club activities of a similar nature and although I wish you luck with your venture, no permission is granted. In fairness the club's official publication was called "Keep Right On" written by Hyder Jawad and is an excellent title.
